Antique Dutch black rounded frame for chalk pastel

This antique Dutch black frame feel like it’s 100 years old, with the distressing, the worn through surface and the grey stone patina (a crushed limestone called “rottenstone”) that’s caught in the corners of the profile.

The only way to get that is to apply the rottenstone as the last step, and this is why closed corner frames give us the best simulates antique frames.

Also, there’s just a touch of the terra cotta red undercoat peeking through, a detail that goes beautifully with those reds and purples in the piece.  A match made in (the) heavens!
