Cherry cap frame on sunset painting

Ahh, the beauty of nature, plus the effect of mankind.  My client painted this Southern California seascape to include the smog layer visible above the sunset, and accurate document of what he saw that afternoon.  The frame is a 2 1/2″ tall 3/4″ wide cherry cap frame, sealed and varnished.  No need for stain as the oil sealer brings out plenty of color.  The organic landscape subject of this canvas is perfectly at home surrounded by the beauty of the natural hardwood grain pattern and the warm color cherry wood has naturally.  This is what it looked like upon completion in my shop, but cherry is a wood species that gets darker and oranger as it oxidizes over the course of 6 months.  Use my long time store samples for color choices to predict what your frame will look as it ages.
