This is a Chinese silk embroidery of two Koi fish. The mounted silk panel has a mat with a hand-drawn ruled line around the opening in a custom mixed plum color to accent the color on one of the fish. The frame is a stamped “stripey” frame in pink over salmon. The imperfections of the stripes are evidence that the frame was painted after it was joined since the stripes go across the ends and aren’t interrupted by the mitered corners. They are hand stamped, giving the piece an overall warmth and honesty that evidence of the human hand gives so well. This frame was made specifically for these fish, and it shows.
